I haven't been approached for change from DLA to PIP., but I'm wondering whether there is a Motability scheme within PIP scheme? I need to be driven.

Hi @KatieLou
It’s great to meet you this afternoon.
Yes there’s a Mobility Component within PIP.
I have posted a link below for you:
https://search.scope.org.uk/s/redirect?collection=scope-meta&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.scope.org.uk%2Fsupport%2Fdisabled-people%2Fbenefits%2Fpip&index_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.scope.org.uk%2Fsupport%2Fdisabled-people%2Fbenefits%2Fpip&auth=OdCmUepX8Eu01lD6Q10Fhg&profile=_default&rank=1&query=Pip
Please take care in filling in the form as “PIP” is completely different to “DLA”
We have got many members who have had mixed fortunes with the whole process.
Please please let me know if I can help you with the form filling???? -
Hi @KatieLou
Yes there is a mobility component in PIP and i’d guess you would need to be on the Enhanced rate to be entitled to pay for a car if tgat’s What your asking.
i like to be driven as I don’t have the choice as I am not entitled to drive so sometimes use expensive taxis.
Would be great if someone met me at SCAG as that’s my joke name for a place. Unfortunately not that well atm though! -
Only the enhanced mobility rate can be usd for a motorbility vehicle.
You can use it for a car and have a designated driver, although the car can only be used for your direct benefit and not for the drivers benefit ie. they could not use your car to go to work. You can also use it to lease a scooter or power wheelchair if that is more to your need.

Hi @KatieLou,
Welcome to the community! I've moved your question to our PIP category, so others can find it. Thanks!

Thanks everyone. Good to have somewhere to chat. I use Lupus Sufferers UK blog. That’s handy for support. Happy new year one and all.
