Sensory overload help
Hello, is there treatment or a service I can use to get help with sensory overload?
Everything smells too strong, lights too bright, tastes too strong, too loud.

Hi @catsarefluffy, I haven't heard of any particular treatments or services for this unfortunately. But some people find they can reduce the overwhelm a little if they get to know what affects them and work on coping strategies to reduce the feelings before they get too overloaded. I'm sure some of our members might have some tips for that. I found this page too in case that's useful to you:
Sensory Overwhelm: 10 Effective Techniques That Really Help
Do you use any aids to help you cope at the moment? For example, noise cancelling headphones can be good for sounds, or for playing low level calming music or white noise. You can also get little earplugs that don't completely cancel out all sounds but reduce the general noise to a better level. Sunglasses or tinted glasses can be used for light both inside and outside. There's a few different bits and pieces that might help ☺️

Occupational therapists who specialise in sensory integration may be able to @catsarefluffy. Here is some information on how occupational therapy can help sensory processing difficulties😊.

I don't like the sound of this at all! It's not possible to become de-sensitised through exposure or training!
