Carer allowance and UC
Hi guys.
I am just concerned about I started carer allowance and UC deducted from benefit all I received e.g £300 but UC deducted from me £345 for carer allowance from benefit is that normal and also I am working part time and deducted from benefit and left me very low income what should I do ?
I have 2 kids and my husband has health problems can not work.
I am paying council tax and bills and food .
How can I afford it all of them !
What should I apply to survive to living in? Really need help!!

Yes this is all normal & correct.
Carers Allowance is paid weekly and UC monthly, so while the deduction looks wrong it isn't.
To convert a weekly benefit into a monthly you multiply the weekly amount by 52 then divide by 12.
Remember your income isn't just UC, it's UC + CA + wages. Husband also presumably gets PIP or similar due to you being able to claim CA.
I'd recommend you see a local welfare rights organisation who can do a benefits check for both you & your husband to make sure you are getting everything that you are entitled too and your UC award is correct.
They can also offer other guidance about reducing household bills, budgeting, help with any debt etc.
