Hi,

I've been recently diagnosed with ADHD. I receive benefits such as UC and PIP. I am currently not in paid work, but I do volunteer a morning a week.

Does anyone know of a grant or anything that could make my day-to-day life easier in terms equpiment such as digital notebooks, etc.?

Many thanks

Hi @toffeeapples, I work in neurodiversity support, so a few routes that might help:

If you go back into paid work (including self-employed), Access to Work can fund equipment, software and ADHD coaching. It only covers paid work though, so the volunteering won't count yet.

If you ever study, even part-time or with the Open University, Disabled Students' Allowance can pay for assistive software, equipment and study skills support.

For now, Turn2us has a free grant search where you put in your situation and it shows charities you might qualify for.

I'd agree with Anhedonia2 though: the system matters more than the gadget. It's worth trying free options on your phone first, like reminders with location alerts, or one notes app as a "brain dump" so everything lives in one place. If you've used that for a few weeks and still think a digital notebook would help, you'll know it's worth saving for.

Try the links given in this thread:

If no joy then I'd recommend saving up your PIP to buy the things you need, as that is what it is for.

    Hi @toffeeapples

Hopefully you will be eligible for one of the links that Kimi signposted to. If you're able to, are you saving any of your PIP money at the moment?😊

My PIP was declined September 15th and i have just posted off the MR. i am hoping to get the Living award and that would be beneficial for a new mattress and other things. Such as I can't walk on inclanes due to my spine. I drive to the park and ride and the park and ride bus drops me off in the city centre but at the end of town. I used to walk up the incline which is about 1-1.3km and takes around 18 minutes it is a uphill walk and this puts my back under serious duress. I have not been into the office since around March. They are wanting me back in. I now need to find a connecting bus, which is the cost of an extra bus or an Uber that is willing to do a short distance but around a busy city one-way system. At this point, I have no idea if an Uber would accept the journey. This has been a source of additional worry for months.

I was replying to toffeeapples the opening poster. I linked to your thread because it contains the information being sought & saves me typing out the same answers multiple times. Lots of questions get repeated it's easier for me to bookmark threads and post one link to where the information has been previously given 🙂

Genuine question, what do you think a digital notebook would change for you? Is there anything you could do on there that you couldn't do on a phone or whatever you use for the internet?

I've tried so many things over the years and not found any equipment thats helped with ADHD, mostly it's been finding systems and structures that work within my lifestyle
