How Many Holes Does Penne Pasta Have?π΄π€
I was listening to an episode of The Good, The Scaz & The Rugby on the weekend and they had a debate whether penne pasta had one hole or two.
I asked my best friend and she said it's two because there's an entrance and exit. I said one because it's one continuous tunnelπ
What do you think?

Polo Mints - The mint with the hole (singular). I rest my case!

Two ends and two holes, the answer has to be 2 βοΈ

. . . . . been thinking, yes two holes one each end BUT is there a third . . . . . the one that goes all the way through?
And another question, are Penne Pasta left or right handed?

It's one⦠The thin walls of pasta just confuse our eye because we can see both ends at the same time. If you have a plank of wood, and you drill one hole right though it, that's only one hole.
Perhaps there's also an element of language as well thoughβ¦ I'd call the circles at each end an 'opening', or an 'orifice' if feeling very poshβ¦ So one hole with two openings. π

This forum is really scrapping the barrel now, is life so sad nowadays that we have to debate on whether pasta has 1 or 2 holes.

I'm very much looking forward to the topic of seriousness you create for discussion with your extremely exciting and unsadlife βΊοΈ unless it's designed just to bring other people down, because that would be very sad indeed!
With my #sadlife I very much enjoy being silly and will fight anyone who thinks pasta has two holes! π¨βπ³

Two
1 hole
1 tunnel
The tunnel has a hole at either end, like the penne, making it 2 holes!

We all have different interests @rubin16. It doesn't make anyone sad to have a bit of fun discussing things like this.

Ok I'm liking the comparison to a polo @ChrisR777 and a plank of wood @OverlyAnxious. It's got to be 1, there's no other answer!
@Carl_Scope, a tunnel has one hole. It begs the question though, is a 'hole' in the ground an actual hole? Or is it a pit? Or something else?

How long does a hole have to be to become a tunnel?π€

I also love the opinions and how close this poll has got!π

Ok, the subject hardly sets the heather on fire, but is it any more sad than wondering about the non existent cornucopia on Fruit of the Loom clothing?

I'm going to be controversial for once and say NONE!
There are NO holes in a tube of pasta: it has two ends. Imagine the Channel Tunnel or your hosepipe with a hole in it, dear oh dear βΊοΈ

Oh @WhatThe you've opened a real can of worms there!
So what is a hole? Do we agree that a polo mint has a hole? At what point does a hole become a tunnel? How do we determine the difference between 'ends' and holes? I really need some answers so I can sleep tonight π

You have raised an excellent point @WhatThe!!! A lot to think aboutβ¦

What if it is only half a hole, does that mean you need two half holes to make a whole hole?
Not naming anyone here, but if it is pasta would you scrape it off a barrel or would it be a sauce pan?

This is a very good point. I'd like to change my vote from 'two' to 'zero'!
