Can anyone make sense of this? I got DLA for daughter recently son, asked for carers and disabled child element to be backdated and received this letter

It has 3 diff figures in it? It says entitled to 9k+, I’ve been paid 7k+ and I’m having 1800 backdated? But I’m confused by the 9k and the 7k figures? If anyone can break this down for me much appreciated. Also the dates don't make sense what about august 25 until now?

Hi @stacedancer and welcome to the community.

So it's saying that between 7 March 2025 and 6 August 2025 you should have been paid £9,714.05.

Instead, you were only paid £7,858.90 during that time. So they owe you the difference which is £1,855.15

I'm not entirely sure why it doesn't mention anything about August 2025 until now. Did anything change in that time?

Sry so does that mean they need to give me 9714?

aug is when I reported the change but they only decided on it now a year later

No, because they've already given you £7858, the amount outstanding and owed to you is £1855.

Between the relevant dates, your normal monthly UC payments totalled 7858k.

You should have been paid 9714k between those dates, taking into account the new elements.

What's now owed is the difference between those two figures.

    9714 (should have been paid)

    Minus

    £7858 (what you were paid)

    Equals

£1855 (what you will now be paid)
