To cull or not to cull?
I admit I don't know enough about it so my opinion is purely emotion based, but this made me so sad that this is even a debate:
Imagine destroying something nearly 400 years old because it hurts your profit 😥

When that Twaites Ice Shelf finally collapses, some hundreds of years from now, it could be argued that a more fitting 'cull' will begin.
Sorry to be so morbid, it's one of the subjects that induces that feeling within me.

We don't deserve to be ths custodians of the only known planet that supports life.

The British Empire destroyed states and nations for profit, and now in UK someone does not like that someone wants to kill a shark.

Ah yes, because I was alive back then and responsible for the decisions. And fully endorse them even now too. Of course!
Is it so wrong to not like any suffering, regardless of what my ancestors ancestors ancestors may have done?

Huh. You use the country's infrastructure and benefits, which are mainly built on the robbery of colonies and other countries over many centuries.
And back to fish and sharks - do you care about the suffering of hundreds and thousands of fish that the shark eats? Do you understand me now?

I'm sorry but what are you even talking about? I think you're being deliberately argumentative.
It's impossible not to use the country's infrastructure and using it does not mean I am responsible for the actions of everyone through history.
And animals dying in nature to one another is not a concern for me, they're not doing it for profit or to line the pockets of capitalists.

Just a reminder to be civil please. Different opinions are fine, just be respectful.

I always find any sort of cull to be terribly sad but it’s much worse to me when it’s so nakedly money motivated

I am tormented by the question: will the fish caught end up being eaten by the capitalists, or will this fish be eaten by ordinary people?
Is it morally acceptable that capitalists eat fish that sharks could eat?

No to the cull! Humans doing their thing for money, just kill them off as they're taking what we want. So then, what next, on to all sharks, seals & anything else that kills their catch of the day? Those animals eat to live, fisherman can of course take up growing veg on land.

Do you really think that Greenlandic fishermen should grow vegetables on their shore? Is this a joke?

I love sharks

A lot of our veg is grown undercover, which is something they are doing in the South, plus hydoponically too. So, yes, actually!

How much will industrial greenhouses for growing vegetables on the coast of Greenland cost, what are the costs of retraining fishermen, what will be the energy costs and how competitive will the vegetables grown in this way be compared to, for example, Spanish ones?
