What can I do for my 75 yr old mum who had a stroke?

Could you ask Social Services to arrange a care package for her in her own home, say four visits a day? Or sheltered housing, again with a care package?

Hi @lorraineS
Unless your Mum is in a position to fully self fund her care then you are going to need to involvement of her local authority. Ask them to conduct an urgent assessment of her care needs. This should help to clarify if residential care is necessary or if another option, such as care at home or supported living would be more appropriate. The assessment should also take into consideration your Mum's wishes.
This link, touches on some of the options for care:

It might also be useful to make contact with your local branches of Age UK
https://www.ageuk.org.uk/ and Stroke Association
Hope this helps
