Adult ADHD help with symptoms

Finding out at 34 you have ADHD, asking and wanting all help that's needed to learn to cope,  then promised specialists psychotherapist helping with coping techniques, anxiety, sleep disorders and CBT ect yet not actually being able to access any but put on waiting lists for over a year now. How to actually get help when no financing is available

    You sound so frustrated and I'm not surprised considering you've waited so long for help.
    Sadly waiting lists are an issue for many of us.  Have you tried ringing these organisations to say you're happy to attend last minute cancellations, although I do realise this isn't always an option.
    There are others on this forum who face similar issues and although we can't help you to be seen quicker, other members may be able to advise you on coping mechanisms and how to deal with what you are going through.

    Beyond frustrating. Help is just not there, I keep trying but it's impossible.  You only get help if suicidal, you actually have to be that desperate before any agency will help and by then you just don't care. There is a lot of talk about mental health care and what is needed but very little practical help is actually given.

    So sorry to hear this, @NannaJJ. I know it's no substitute for professional help, but have you seen this site for and by adults with ADHD? They have a map of support services on their website and also might know of some groups local to you, which might be something beneficial whilst you wait for your appointments?

    I have found a clinic that solely focus on ADHD, they are a team of specialist that help people with ADHD.

    You have listed the link ADHD  i just realised. I looked but it's a private clinic i can't see prices but probably not affordable on pip benefit But thank you so much for trying. It's actually  the most help we have had to now.

    I'm really sorry to hear that you are really struggling and that the support you need and deserve just isn't there for you. Unfortunately, as @Chaoskay says, waiting lists are the norm and not the exception now. Services are really struggling to be able to cope with the demands on their services and I understand that knowing this doesn't help you in any way. 

    I am afraid that in terms of support, I would have given the same link that you have already been given so I'm not really much more help! 

    I am wondering what your relationship is like with your GP and how you would feel about going to see them and talking to them about how you are struggling without the support and see if there is anything that they can offer you?

    GP is good but referrals take time so many processes and hoops to jump keep getting near the carrot then it's taken away as no funding.
    Only get help if suicidal, at this rate soon will be.
    If I had money to fund what is needed life would be easier.
    Until I win the lottery just have to wait
