edited February 2018 in PIP, DLA, and AA
my 19 year old son has ADHD and Dyspraxia. He had DLA and PIP for 1 year when it changed over. We reapplied but it was refused saying he had no points, going from full care to no care! We have sent in the MR but it has been refused again. I want to appeal but because of his problems he wouldn't go to a tribunal, so can you help with how I go about this please?

Hi @joolsoo, and welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear that you're going through the appeals process. You can choose to have a paper hearing instead of a tribunal that you attend in person, however this is something that many of our members have advised against, and so you may want to think carefully about it first. Have a look at the Turn2Us page for some more information on how paper hearings work, and do come back to us with any questions.

thanks for getting back to me. I wondered if it went to an appeals panel before actually having to go to tribunal, so maybe we would have a decision before having to actually go anywhere?!

The DWP will look at your claim again as part of the appeal process, sometimes they do change the decision before the hearing but not very often.
IIt is always better to attend a hearing but if you have to rely on a paper hearing you must make your case idiot proof

Sometimes a tribunal will make a decision before the hearing but this is not done in most cases.
