Botox treatment for CP

My daughter has very mild cerebral palsy due to oxygen starvation to the brain when she was born 10 weeks early. She is 10 years old now and has had extensive physio throughout her life which has always helped tremendously as her condition is barely noticeable. However, recently she's been complaining of pain in her calfs and thighs and a friend recommended botox.
Does anyone have experience of this treatment as a way of relaxing muscles and combating pain?
Alternatively can anyone recommend a physio who specializes in children with cerebral palsy in the Lancashire/Greater Manachester areas?
Thanks a lot
Richard

Hi @RichardL
Welcome to the community. There are a lot of people in the community with useful experiences to share.
We have information on botox treatment by clicking on this link https://www.scope.org.uk/support/families/therapies/botox there is also information on other therapies that you might want to research.
I have had a brief search on the web and found these physiotherapists in your area http://sptherapyservices.co.uk/ Scope does not endorse any particular physiotherapist but it may be a good starting point for you.
If you have any further questions let us know.

Dear Richard, If you do your research on deaths and cerebral palsy children, you will find botulinum toxin can spread to the entire body and induce botulism and death in children. Botulinum toxin is THE MOST lethal substance known to man, yes even in "minute amounts" where 300 picograms has proved fatal. For every 1 adverse event made to the regulatory agencies, there are another 10-90 children harmed that go unreported. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fda-warns-of-botox-death-risk/
Botulinum toxin can even damage the heart muscle and result in cardiac fatalities months after its use. See the case of this girl who died in her sleep. https://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/story/news/local/2015/04/14/second-vermont-botox-lawsuit/25737279/ -

Thanks for all the info, it's really useful and I wont make any rash decisions re botox

It's ironic. The physicians who inject Botox have never seen botulism so when the botulism symptoms arise, they assume they are just "side effects" that are temporary and benign. Some parents have found out the hard way how lethal or damaging Botox can be. Luckily, with the internet we can track down our own truth. Good luck.
