Intakes my mind off things going on in my life .

Just going through the trasition from long term HR  DLA to PIP at 68  "bigbrother DWP" getting me to jump through hoops again.

Hello @GizmoTiddles and a warm welcome to you. I'm relieved your nickname relates to techy stuff and has nothing to do, presumably, with the danger of exposing you to bright light, to water and feeding you after midnight!

I'm intrigued: what kind of techy stuff? I'm not far ahead of the salesman who once answered the question as to whether a radio was solid state with 'Oh yes, you can see it's in a wooden case'.

Very very glad to have you with us, Gizmo, and
    Warmest best wishes to you,
    Richard

    Hi Gizmo and welcome

There are different criteria for PIP than DLA It is important to understand the points system, descriptors and criteria for a PIP award

Have a look at the B&W self test

    http://www.mybenefitsandwork.co.uk/pip/indexxx.php

It is especially important if you receive a mobility element to be aware of the restrictions after retirement age

    Hi
and thanks for the welcome have been on that site and tried the pip test ,which is fine as even playing myself down ,I then score over 12 points on each .
but then i am aware of what my limitations are.
the assesser on the other hand may have me as a medal winner in the olympics.
As i am aware the fact that i have been awarded dla for the last 25yrs hrm that the transition (should I be awardwd pip) is a follow on. I know you cant make a claim after 65 .
    or am I missing somthing?

If mobility is an issue for you then the award you accept this time cannot be increased in the future
So if you accept standard you cannot be awarded enhanced in the future

Yep thanks have read it through and as far as I can see it doesn't say anything about a not being able to change up ,the thing is although I have been in  reciept of HRM DLA and low rate care my needs there have changed dramatically.and I have never bothered with a car and made do with what I received.
My daily care scores way above the 12 points required with just the appliances I have available to me so if that gives me the enhanced rate ,and STD on mobility I'm still better of financially. But the principal of it , should I not get the enhanced rate M
Then it will be going to appeal.
    _____this was my circumstaces________

If you were under 65 on 8 April 2013
If you already get DLA and were under 65 on 8 April 2013, the
reassessment applies to you. When selected, you are told your DLA
claim is going to end and you are invited to make a claim for PIP, even
if your DLA was awarded indefinitely. DWP are randomly selecting
people who have an indefinite or fixed-term award of DLA for
reassessment. You are also invited to claim PIP if you report a change
or circumstances on your DLA claim.
When invited, you must contact the DWP within four weeks to start your
new PIP claim. The DWP take your basic details and send you a claim
form. You have four weeks to send this back, although the DWP can
give you longer if you have a good reason for needing an extension.
Unless the deadline is extended, your DLA payments stop if you do not
make a PIP claim within four weeks.

    Sorry for a long post

    Hi CAR
Ithink this is what your were guiding to ,open to interpretation ?

If you are 65 or over
You cannot normally start to receive either rate of the mobility
component after the age of 65, although you continue to receive it if it
was awarded before your 65th birthday. If awarded the standard rate of
the mobility component before you reach 65, you cannot move to the
enhanced rate if your needs increase after you reach 65.
If awarded the enhanced rate of the mobility component before you
reach 65 and your mobility needs reduce to a level that qualifies for the
standard rate after 65, you can move to the standard rate (and back to
the enhanced rate if your mobility needs increase again within a year).
If you are over 65 and receive the mobility component and you start to
have daily living needs or your need for assistance with daily living
increases, you can ask for a supersession and qualify for the standard
or enhanced rate of the daily living component in the same way as
    those under 65.

Have been on DLA since the late 80's
Won two appeals the body may be weaker but the grey matter learns something new every day...
Then forgets it the day after
