Esa - severe disability

I have rang ESA up just they have told me that am now getting severe disability element does this mean I still have to go for the assememnet to see if I have to go in the support group or the other group could someone answer this question please

    No not if they told you you passed .
      How long did you wait before you rang as I am waiting. I had my carers stopped because I messed the form up I think. I cannot wait for it to be over.

    They rang me up last Saturday to ask me a few questions cause they said I might be entitled to some extra money so I rang them back yesterday and they told me am getting severe disability element on ESA and I was getting  the money today which was backpay from December I never asked they just rang me uo

    yes you will still be required to do a work capability assessment but it may be 6 months (as it has been with me) until the appointment comes through

    Everyone will need to be reassessed for ESA at sometime.

    ESA claimants in the support group and UC claimants with limited capability for work and work-related activity (LCWRA) attending a Work Capability Assessment from 29 September 2017 will no longer need to be reassessed if they:

    • have a severe, lifelong disability, illness or health condition
    • are unlikely to ever be able to move into work

    Claimants will be told if they will not be reassessed following their WCA.

    This change does not affect:

    • ESA claimants placed in the work-related activity group
    • UC claimants who are found to have limited capability for work
