I’m not 100% sure how to explain but I’ve been told I can claim for pip but I get my rent paid by housing benefit at the moment and was told I was on the borderline in income. So if I get anymore benefits I’ll have to pay towards my rent. I’m not sure what to do for the best?

    Hi freddyfrog

    Warm welcome.

Good news PIP is disregarded as income and is not classed as taxable income.

Therefore it will not affect your housing benefit.

I would recommend that you seek the support from CAB or a Welfare Rights Advisor in your local area to get assistance with your PIP claim.

Hope this helps, please come back for any futher assistance.

    best wishes

I was told I was on borderline amount for my housing benefit because I claim, income support, carers and dla for my son. They said it’s because I claim dla I’m on the borderline so if I claim anything else I’ll have to pay rent

As the above said PIP isn’t counted but if you wanted reassurance call CAB or your local council to ask

@deb74 I’m not sure how it works as I don’t want to claim more and end up having to pay towards my rent
