I was just wondering if anyone has or is due a pips review. I only went on to it last year from dla, after a gruelling assessment, and am now due another assessment sometime soon. I have been told to expect a letter. I have late stage copd, am in a wheelchair/power chair. Have spinal impact injury(horse riding accident) and am awaiting to see the neurologist again for other symptoms etc. My lungs are never going to get well again, I am just getting older and need more help. I dread the thought of this again so soon.
why can’t they just ask for a report straight from your doctor or specialist, for a set fee? It would certainly be cheaper than paying some company and stranger to interrogate us, and a lot less stressful to us all.

I had my pip assessment 5 weeks ago with ATOS, the nurse was lovely and I asked for a copy of the report and she has put everything I said! They’re very daunting and I was so worried but it was fine in the end!I still haven’t heared anything back yet but don’t worry yourself too much xx

I had no idea you could ask for a copy of the report, I think I would be afraid to in case they thought I was being difficult! The last guy had me in tears.
Are they still only awarding time limiting awards, or longer, as I was on the long term one before pip?

Yes course you can and make sure you 100% do it too because it the assessor awards you more points than the decision maker it’s good for the MR!
On my assessment report it asks the assessor how long should it be before the claim is reviewed and another box saying there will be no change so I’m assuming they still give indefinite
dont appologise, it’s so daunting all this applying for PIP and it actually makes us all worse!
Its harder said than done but try not to worry too much about the assessment because I lost sleep over it and when it was over I thought what was I worrying about!!

Hi @mia63101, and welcome! Yes, unfortunately you can be reviewed at any time, and they generally review you a year before your award is due to end. If you have the decision letter from last time, it should say how long it was awarded to you for.
It does sound silly that you're being assessed again so soon, but not much to be done about it. This time, I'd point out to the assessor that your conditions aren't going to get better, so perhaps it makes more sense to have a longer-term award.
If you're freaked out at having so little notice of your f2f, you can refuse 1 appointment, but then you absolutely must attend the second one. It's best to have someone go with you - a CPN or something, or a member of your family/friend.

I’m applying for DLA for the first time for our little guy. Tell them that your disability is not going to improve suddenly or magically in the way that they expect. Go to the appointment with a friend or family member for moral support.
It’s essential for you to attend to discuss your claim and what could be done next as well. Do you have a copy of the paperwork regarding their decision or not? If so I would take it with you just in case you need to show them. Also consider taking any copies of medical reports.
I hate the form too. The first time I filled out the paperwork 3 months before I drank so much wine. Now I regret my decision as they rejected it. And I have to redo the killer form of questions. Oh well live and learn.
It would be quicker and more efficient to send a letter from his specialists on instead. I receive letters and reports from the doctors and therapists dealing with him why can’t they accept one in place of a form? Every year from now on I will have to tell them that my son is still diagnosed with Spina Bifida before birth and uses a wheelchair in public places. What fun.
Not impressed by the system. Hardly appropriate. -

Yes it’s an awful thing to have to wait for and go through all together, I’m glad there’s sites like this because I’d of gone out of my mind completely if I didn’t have this to come too ha ha!

Hi, just got the brown envelope today, only to tell me they now have all the info, and will be making a decision.
I already heard from them to say they received the report, and will get decision soon, then received a letter to say saying they now have all the information and will write to me to let me know if they “can award pip payment. We will write to you when we have made a decision” It was dated a week before I got it. I can’t help worrying if these letters are delayed in the process if the outcome is’nt good. Do you think you hear sooner rather than later if it’s a positive decision?
