Hi @Globster
I think starting a blog is a fantastic idea. Not only would it help raise awareness about what Cerebral Palsy is and what people like us face but It is a very good way of expressing your thoughts and feelings. Do you have any ideas of what sort of experiences you will talk about?

@Globster I think it is a great idea.
In terms of ideas about what you want to write about you have some good ideas, and like any skill the more you practice the easier and better it becomes.
In terms of advice I would suggest finding a convenient way of recording ideas as they come to you. Many you may reject or put aside but it will give you resource of ideas to fall back on and help plan future pieces.
Reading aloud drafts several times and then the final piece before loading it for public consumption can often catch many of the mistakes. I have just recently started blogging, two posts so far, and quickly come to the conclusion I could do with a proofreader for spelling and grammar. Having a daughter with a first in creative writing has its benefits
Thinking long term has paid off a lot sooner than I thought. I wanted a platform which would allow me to have guest blogs later on, so from the beginning I am in the position where I can set her up so she has editorial rights and correct my posts. It also means if she wants to help by posting her own thoughts she can. I am hoping she does for a number of reasons, variety in posts, broader potential for readers, but also less pressure to get in posts to keep the site updated and more time to better develop posts.
It also offers the chance for us to work together on pieces, something we have discussed in the past but never got round to.
The host I use offers a huge range of perks on its free offering, which means no financial cost in setting up and getting started, so plenty of freedom at the start to experiment before I consider having to commit financially to it. I do have future ideas but if all you want is to blog then find one that is comfortable for you.
As an individual I stood alone.
As a member of a group I did things.
As part of a community I helped to create change! -

You can start one and just have it set to private so just you can read it write it etc. That’s what I did when I wanted to record my recovery. Then when you feel it’s working the way you like you can change settings . Is there anyone on scope who could help you with the practical stuff?

Hi @Globster
I don't think you will offend anybody by writing about your experiences and how you feel. Blogs are like online diaries. People have the choice to read them or not read them.
I think that expressing your thoughts could be of great benefit to you as well. Don't get hung up on the title just yet. Start writing and the title of the blog may find itself. You can do this!
