PIP form has gone off. Now we wait....

I sent my PIP form back off today (decided recorded delivery was well worth the money so I can track it) and now we wait.

Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes the DWP to acknowledge you or invite you for the face-to-face assessment?

Thanks, I've tried looking online to see if I can get any info on backlogs by region but I can't find anything. My current motability lease runs out in November and I need a WAV this time so I really should be look at cars now but I feel like I'm in limbo until I get the decision.

I am in the same position Gaina.  I posted my PIP renewal form back for the 13th. Like you decided recorded delivery was the only way to go as once before DHSS tried to say they had not received it and I had to do it all again. When I went for the face to face medical ... the nurse was reading from the original form sent and also had the repeated copy. By using received delivery ... they can't try that trick again! But have to say ... I do hate the wait now especially as you know that they will call you in regardless. Anyway, good luck ... I hope it all goes well for you and you manage to stay stress free. Xx.

Thank you x. The difficult thing for me is that I haven't been under the care of any specialists since I was 12 so I couldn't include any recent 'evidence', I just had to give them the name of my GP who's only ever seen me for normal stuff. My original DLA award was indefinite because Spina Bifida (which I have) doesn't improve. It really narks me off that they're wasting everyone's time reassessing people like me.

I've just tracked the package and it was signed for at what I now know to be the DWP processing office at Wolverhampton at 4:40 am (?).

Being signed for doesn't mean anything. All it means is that is was signed bot by someone from the sorting office and not from DWP. It's not classed as being there until it's reached the correct department and logged onto the computer and this can take anything up to 10 days.

There's no timescales to assessments or decisions and it varies wildly depending on where you are in the country. Some are waiting just a few weeks, while others are waiting months.

Expect a face 2 face assessment as it's rare to have a paper based assessment. Hopefully you sent in evidence to support your claim because they very rarely contact anyone for evidence. The onus is on the claimant to make sure it's sent. Good luck.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Thanks for the reply. ? I have a name and a signature on the digital receipt so even if they do just work in the sorting office I still have a starting point should things go belly-up.

This 10 day thing does bother me as technically it's possible it would get to them after my deadline date despite the fact I sent it recorded deliver to make sure I didn't miss it.. ?

I had read that 99% of applicants had to attend a face to face assessment so I'm prepared for that.

I wasn't able to send any evidence as despite the fact I'm disabled due to a congenital birth defect (Spina Bifida), I haven't seen a specialist since I was 12 and only went to my GP once for pressure sores, when I was prescribed a pressure sock by a specialist nurse.  I've given them the GP's details and told them to contact the GP about the sock and history of pressure sores.

I should really be looking at cars now as my Motability lease is up in November and I need a WAV but I am in limbo until these comedians get their act together.
