I have bipolar and aspergers and even spent a year in psychiatric hospital, but I got the letter and I didn't get PIP. If I'd gotten close to the 8 points, I would understand, but they gave me 0 in everything. My mental health issues hold me back so much. I feel so invalidated. My mental health nurse said I should get PIP before I applied.

    Hi,

    Your next step is to ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) and you have 1 month from the date of the decision to request this. PIP isn't awarded based on a diagnosis, it's how those conditions affect you daily. You'll need to put the request in writing stating what you disagree with and where you think you should have scored those points. A copy of the assessment report will be handy for this.

    Did you send in evidence to support your claim? They very rarely contact anyone for this and the onus is on you to make sure it's sent. You'll need to gather some evidence to send with the MR request letter.

    If you can't do this yourself then contact your local CAB or the likes who will help you with this process.
