Appeal - DWP phone offers

Im just thinking about the posts on here about the DWP phoning claimants awaiting their tribunal and offering to increase the award to drop the appeal.

Is it because they know they will lose the tribunal hearing or because they know they’ve awarded the claimants incorrectly, or both?

Or has the DWP totally realised this PIP sham doesn’t work?

Just thinking out loud but be good to hear your thoughts on this.

    A bit of both I would suggest. It does seem strange that they will allow a decision to stay even after a MR but when it comes to it being an appeal case they take another third look at the claim. Why then did they introduce the MR system in the first place? They will only offer the minimum award and shortest award length that they  can get away with and get the appeal stopped - that is a win win situation for the DWP. 
    They will have a pretty good guess at what a Tribunal would award so anything less than that that they can get agreed is a bonus point for them.

    @Yadnad, maybe the claimant who get a telephone call should then say they want a long award as well as the correct award.

    Absolutely
    You are entitled to appeal and argue on both of those points.
