I have a 12 year old daughter with CP at mainstream school in Somerset and we’d like to connect with other families with similar issues and age children. Is there a gathering of CP kids adults or families anywhere - like a conference? How have other people made CP friends? It would be nice just to mix with other differently abled families (tired of that word dis-abled!). Thoughts gratefully received.

Hi @Henri and welcome to the community.
A quick search found a range of possibilities in Somerset, but not sure if they are quite what you are looking for. I would suggest contacting your local Contact A Family. https://www.contact.org.uk They usually know what groups and activities are available locally. As an individual I stood alone.
As a member of a group I did things.

Hi @Henri
Good to meet you. There is a group http://www.cerebralpalsyplus.org.uk/ in your area. You could also try https://www.cpteensuk.org/

Thank you Richard and Geoark. Frustratingly the Bristol charity is for Bristol residents (though they said we could come to events) and teen CP looks perfect but only for 13 and over. But we’ll make the most of both. Thank you. I wish there were National or regional annual gatherings or weekends where we could all meet up and share our experiences.
