Hi i am 40 years old and have cp. I am a long term crutch user and also sometimes a wheelchair
My shoulders and back often go In to spasm and no pain killers help. I responsed well to massage to break down the spasm and helps with pain.
Like most adults with cp the Nhs don't want to help unlike when i was a child I have to go private. If the Nhs helped me with massage I would take less painkillers and save them money there. I need this on a weekly bases and it's too expensive.

Hi @Carrie38
I have found an NHS Centre that provides massage therapy and reflexology. Have you spoken to your G.P. about a hydrotherapy referral?

I posted a discussion about NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) undertaking a consultation on services for adults with CP. It is our chance to have a voice and shape services going forward. If you would like to read and comment, here is the link https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/indevelopment/gid-ng10031/consultation/html-content-2
You are right we will have Cerebral Palsy for life and I agree that currently, services are not what we would wish them to be but if we engage with consultations like this, I believe we can affect positive change.
