Hi I'm Dennis, I am currently working 12 hours per week and in September I would like to study a 6 hour per week college course I am on ESA, as that will bring me up-to 18 hours altogether will I still be able to claim support group ESA?

Hi @Keane80 and a warm welcome to the community. You are able to work up to 16 hours while on ESA, but you are also allowed to study part- timeMost full-time students can't get income-related ESA, but you can if you're getting DLA or PIP. If you study part-time it shouldn't affect your claim for income-related ESA (although be aware that being able to study part-time may show you can do a certain amount of work)However, I am unsure if you would be allowed to study and work without it affecting your ESA. It may be worth contacting the Scope helpline on: 0808 800 3333 about thisScope

Hi,Do DWP know you're working 12 hours per week? Yes you can do permitted work while claiming ESA but you need permission to do this.Students and ESA are complicated so i'd get further advice. You do also need to be careful because you're already working 12 hours per week, with college course as well on top of this, it could well go against you.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
