Hello I'm new to this' here goes anyways recently my partner went for a pip assessment'she's diabetic' epileptic 'had triple bypass surgery and as a blockage on her brain that's inoperable and will eventually lead to a massive stroke and she has T.I.A s (mini strokes) all the time'she cannot walk unaided and is ill every day' she got her pip decision a couple of weeks ago' she got 2 points for care comment and nil for mobility'she was devastated'she was on high mobility and middle care'this is disgraceful' there is no way in this world she read any evidence provided off neurologist specialist and all other specialists' she' put in for a mandatory reconsiderattioan' but I thought people with medical knowledge would assess this' but no 'it's just another D.W.P worker with no medical knowledge whatsoever'so she is not hopeful of a decision being overturned at that stage and to wait for a tribunal appeal' which is going to take 12 months'so she going to be without all that money for that long

Hi @Dannyboy1929 and a very warm welcome to the community! I am really sorry to hear about your situation. The chances of winning an appeal are a lot higher then the MR. I wish you the very best of luck and please do keep us updated. There will be lots of people who have gone through the appeal process so please do let me know if there is anything else that we can doScope

Hi
I’m very sorry to hear about your partners PIP experience, I’ve just been through the process and was successful (Thank goodness) but I have to say the Assessor wasn’t interested in Consultants, Doctors or Physio reports and actually said to be I don’t want to know about those I want to know what day to day to day life is like for you and how to you manage day to day activities that everybody has to do.
Ive read a lot of posts about people’s experiences at assessment and how medical reports seem to be disregarded. The old DLA seemed to focus heavily on medical reports but PIP seems to rely on personal testimony, very bizarre and not very helpful if the person being assessed is anxious or can’t articulate how their condition effects them. I wish you every success with your MR and appeal.
