SSP should be claimed for 28 weeks before being able to claim SSP. Fit/sick notes will be needed from your GP and you should speak to your employer.

Hello Ami2301
Poppy is right that you maybe entitled to SSP, and then when this has been exhausted you may then (given the number of yeas Ni conts) be entitled to contributory based ESA.
Do you rent your home? or have a partner? If so depending on where you live you maybe able to claim Housing Benefit/income related ESA or Universal credit.
I have put a link to see if you are in a universal credit area below:
https://universalcreditinfo.net/
I have also put a link to an online benefit calculator.
https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators
In addition are you a member of a trade union as they can help with advice and assistance with benefit and work issues.
Please post again if you have any further questions.
