Hello @janesandra Pleased to meet you welcome.
Thank you for joining and thank you for sharing.
I am in agreement with you here. Nearly seventy having to apply for PIP. Please can I ask you need some support with this. Sorry what you are going through.
I would look at our benefit advice on PIP. Speak to CAB about form filling in plus any additional advice and information.
You might get some support from AGE UK. Have a look at the website see what they is .
Some thing to consider.
I know this is stressful and the community do understand. I was on the old DLA myself twenty years plus.
Is it an anxious time have you spoken to your GP for additional support. Could be useful.
We are a supportive, friendly community. Care and share.
Please ask the community. Some one will know.
We are here to help and advise, ready to listen. Please if we can ask us.
Please take care

Hi @janesandra,
Welcome to Scope's online community! It's great to have you here.
I'm sorry to hear about the problems you've been having with DLA - it sounds like a really stressful time. Here on the community we're a friendly bunch here to offer advice and support where we can.
Have you had a look at our PIP, DLA and AA category? You may find that useful, along with our section on Personal Independence Payments on our website.
I hope this helps. If we can help in any way, then please do get in touch!Liam -

I gave up after the third decision of 0 points again.
I was on a 3 year award cycle that meant that a face to face re-assessment had to be carried out every two years.
The thought of having to be re-assessed and having to fight for what I am entitled to every other year was too much to bear - I stopped the PIP claim earlier this year.
Good luck with your life on PIP!

I feel for both you and janesandra i was given it indefinitely to and have had it for some years until now i found the assessor twisted things and left alot of information out .and said because i not under a mental health specialist for my depression &anxiety (made worse since i lost my gorgeous youngest son 9 years ago )only my gp &because i will no longer take meds cos of being worried what they were doing to me .i dont suffer from either according to her and who made the decision. I hate it all and wonder like you wether to give it all up i dont see why i should have to justfiy having RA ,fibromyalgia depression and anxiety to anyone its not of my own doing good luck to you both

If the DWP were to accept every claim as being genuine and true there would be no refusals.

I wasnt actually meaning just myself when i said i shouldnt have to justify myself to anyone .i meant anyone that has to do the assessments sorry if you dont agree .

Personally I agree with this as to be honest with DLA my award was given to me (High Mobility & Care) back in 1995 with little evidence and no assessment.
The alternative is that if you are finding the PIP intrusive, as you appear to do, then close down your claim as I did.
Everybody has a choice.

I am very willing to have the assessments as i have nothing to hide im just saying and im by far not the only person to say it to justify yourself and then for the assessor not to put the truth down or miss important information out is not righht and more stressful to people .and yes i know i have a choice .thank you .

I would mention in passing that within the Civil Service, no one that I know and have known would willingly want to work for that department. It sits at the bottom of the pile if career civil servants are given a choice. By contrast the Diplomatic Service along with the Foreign Office sit at the top of the pile. And if you are of the right calibre, the Security Service, who are always looking for the right persons, sits alongside the other two.
