PIP tribunal win!

Hi All, I'm new!
I recently took my sister-in-laws PIP refusal to a tribunal. After 10 long and stressful months we won and she received the higher rate for both the mobility and daily living parts. We are over the moon but I am determined to continue to fight this injustice, for her and others.
xx

    Hi Ami,
I have just seen from one of your other posts that you have transverse myelitis.
As does my sister-in-law, who I support.
She collapsed just over a year ago out of the blue and now lives with chronic pain, in a wheelchair and has many other issues.
It's been a very difficult time - her and my brother have 3 children under 5 so managing their needs as well as her's has been extremely difficult.
    How are you getting on?

You don't know how much it means to me knowing that she has the same as myself. I'm in tears...relieved, I really thought I was alone with this!

I have been a specialist neurological rehabilitation centre for the past 18 weeks, potentially learning to walk again...which I have done with a walking frame, I can only manage a metre and a bit before my Ataxia kicks in. Honestly, it has been the scariest year of my life. My goal is to walk down the aisle next September and its only a short distance so I'm getting there.

Feeling really overwhelmed right now, thank you from the bottom of my heart :)

Sounds like you have been through something absolutely horrendous. A massive well done to you for being so positive and for continuing to fight.
My sister-in-law has also had an awful year and continues to struggle with pain and mobility. Rehab in her part of the country has been fairly poor and she gets very little therapy. She spent a few weeks in rehab but it could no longer be funded - and it wasn't sustainable with the young children at home.
Life is so tough for her. We have just been through a horrendous struggle to access PIP. Finally won at our tribunal last week which was an amazing validation for her. This will help to make life slightly more liveable but is clearly not the answer to her medical issues.

I am so hopeful that you will walk down the aisle. What an incredible goal. But I have no doubt that your partner wouldn't care in the slightest how you got down the aisle!!

Thank you so much, I had to battle with double pneumonia to begin with aswell, nearly cost me my life. I thank god everyday that I pulled through!

Not allowed to share home address or anything but could you tell me what county you are in? I understand it's a difficult situation for your sister-in-law with children, and it would be hard for her to be away from them for a long length of time. I am really lucky to have my physiotherapist, I came here and was completely dependent on a hoist and well I've been walking for about a month now, so he has got me to walk again within 14 weeks. I know your sister-in-law would massively benefit from the rehab I am in. It's annoying that there are not more places like this!

Thank you, she is extremely lucky to have you as her sister-in-law, you are amazing!

    It's in the west country.

I'm so pleased that you are getting some excellent physiotherapy.
And yep agree - I so wish there was better provision and less of a post-code-lottery.

I'd be interested to hear about your pain management as this is something she struggles with. Am I able to PM you? This is all new to me!
