    PIP is Personal Independence Payment.

    Its not a means-tested benefit, so any household income is not taken into consideration. There are two components of PIP, Daily Living and Mobility. It's not just based on how your disability/illness affects you on a daily basis but how it can prevent you from daily activities. 

    For example, preparing a meal
    - I am unable to prepare a meal due to my Ataxia and loss of sensation in my hands.
    But why can I not do this? - Must always give detailed explanations of what has happened
    - This has led me to cut my fingers on numerous occasions (not severely)
    - I struggle to carry cups, plates, etc as I have dropped these many times.
    There are other reasons but just giving you an example.

    There are 13 (if I remember) other scenarios they give you on the form.

    I understand now. That sounds like the same program as being on Disability here. One has to prove inability to function in daily living skills. This process involves lots of hoops to jump through. I got on it very easily, receive a monthly stipend (barely enough to live one), reduced rent, transportation to medical appointments, my prescriptions are covered and so are my doctor bills.
