Time in hospital

I am currently in hospital having problems with serious infection in my right leg, I had a fasioctmy on my leg back in February and ended up losing my left leg below the knee. My right leg has never healed on the inside wound and due to a lack of training at gp nurse level I am in my current situation. I wonder if others have similar issues with hospitals and the NHS in general?

Hi @uruloki
I am so sorry to hear what has happened. I too have experienced a lengthy stay in hospital, and still am, however am currently in the rehabilitation sector. I've been in hospital since March 5th. May I ask how you are coping?Disability Gamechanger - 2019 -
It's very difficult but I basically just get on with it :-/

I know the feeling, I experienced a long period of hopelessness. Have you been seen by a physiotherapist? A psychologist - they will be very supportive and often it is good to talk to someoneDisability Gamechanger - 2019

Hi @uruloki a warm welcome , and so sorry to hear you are in hospital ,
-
how long you been in there for
-
I see a physiotherapist once every three months due to needed a further op on my stump so they can fit a prosthetic but that can't happen until the other leg is healed. Frustrating. I get a call from a trainee therapist every two weeks for CBT. I have been in the hospital now for four days but they have no idea how long I will be here :-/

Take each day as it comes, do you have any visitors?Disability Gamechanger - 2019

i notice when i was in hospital could not sleep at all the nurses was talking all through the night patients was ringing the bell or calling out , whats it like there , there is no place like home , nice if you got someone to talk to

I have had two visitors, it's a mad house here it seems all the geriatrics are in this ward and constantly getting up and ranting. I hate it
-
lol o dear not good then , well you got @AMI2301 and me here to talk to you .

Welcome, @urolocki,
I hate being in hospital, too. I get less sleep there than do at home. And the food is, well, not gourmet, shall we say.
I am truly sorry you are there and don't know when you will get out. Are you on an IV for the infection?
We are here to talk and listen, day and night. I hope that helps just a bit.
Wishing a fast and complete recovery. Please keep us posted. -
Thanks Cracker, yes it's not a good place, the food and sleep are terrible. I am iv for a few things including antibiotics and taking around ten tablets at a time :-/

I know it's hard and easier said than done, try to think that each day is a step closer to going home. You are in the best place possible to be treated for an infection. It is horrible but you will get through thisDisability Gamechanger - 2019

@uruloki, I wish I could bring you some decent food (given my nonexistent cooking skills, you might rue it). Sincerely/ hoping you can get off the IV and out of there soon.

I got out!!! Back home and happy. Thanks for all the support folks :-)
