Universal Credit and Disability

I have had a 'work capability assessment' in July having signed on to UC in March with a doctors note covering my disability (XLH) I was awarded extra money having been deemed unfit for work. I have been told that I won't get it back dated from March to the August when my new payment started. Is this correct?
