Face to face interview with health professional for entitlement for PIP

Hi everyone, I just want to ask if after filling in the form in for entitlement for PIP from DLA. Is the face to face meeting always necessary?

No not always @ofme but you must have a consistent evidence to back up your claim form. I had a Paper assessment and now got my PIP ongoing.
The key is detail everything as PIP is a functional test and not just the diagnosis.

Most people have face to face assessments, it's rare not to have one.

The DWP will only make a successful decision to award PIP on a paper based assessment if there is overwhelming medical evidence in favour of the claimant being awarded it. Sometimes they do write and ask for a report from your GP but other than that the only documentary evidence that they will have is what you send in with your claim form. As poppy123456 says it is very rare that a paper based assessment will be done without the need for a face to face.

I agree. But you will find that a diagnosis is important so much so that the assessor is likely to go against a claim if the claimant is not involved in receiving specialist attention from a consultant.Government_needs_reform said:

Many reports state that just relying on a GP to treat you suggests that the medical/mental health issue is not of any great significance.

Completely incorrect. A diagnosis makes no difference to a PIP or ESA claim.

I do agree with you, but without specialist input (consultant) the assessor and the DWP normally disallow that element of the claim saying that you cannot be as bad as you say you are as you are not seeing a consultant. @Yadnad & @poppy123456 I know I'm gonna get my LIPS slapped regarding what I'm gonna say Now...
Ok I've been through all this ESA & PIP, only ever all done Paper Based only.
I listed all my diagnosis, & (they did help) added with all the extra added written information I supplied within my forms, whether it be for PIP or ESA, plus input from Drs, Consultant (s) relating all my functional problems, supplied with that evidence, NHS wheelchair assessment proving I cannot mobilise one.
So in reality I whould say each part of my awards where derived from everything that was sent in.. CQ, Diagnosis, further functional backed up information, NHS wheelchair assessment report, & of course I'm still getting specialist input.
SO the question what's the right way, or the wrong way?
Now you would have to ask yourself what's the way you would put your case across which gives them the DWP a full picture of how your affected.
I will always carry on my way despite what anyone thinks.
So I'm guessing my lips will get a slap!!! ?????????2 -
No I don't. I am being totally practical. I know that you don't need a diagnosis, but then without one how would you manage to show to the DWP that you are seeing a specialist? It is reported on here many times that without specialist input the DWP take the view that whatever your difficulties are they cannot be as serious as they are made out to be.poppy123456 said:You always seem to twist things...

@Yadnad your welcome & As @poppy123456 has stated some of the things may work for one bit or for the other, I have personally have always added the full picture including everything in that way it doesn't give the DWP any wiggle room for error.
This was my last ESA PB, Support Group as you can see they've also used other information that's on there system already. I know with my last ESA I should have been put in the exemption ruling, but with UC they've mist most of my physical stuff this time, but I have all reports and evidence that will exempt me next time.

So i will say to each and everyone of you that goes through any of this it's all down to you how you prepare you case as I believe there is no hard and fast ways to do it.2 -
Hi, when was that issued? I only ask as in my last MR earlier this year the DWP specifically said that the reports from Social Services, copy of Consultant report all tied together within a full report from my GP was not reliable as it was more than two years old - it was dated 2012.Government_needs_reform said:

I don't fully understand any of this the more I see & hear things. Surely the DWP and I presume the assessor have a policy that says that there has to be standardisation in the process?

@Yadnad That dated in 2012 was when I sent in evidence etc and was placed in the Support Group of ESA all Paper Based As I think the DWP wont come near me as I might end up loosing the plot, I even wright on the CQ that I will not go to assessments because I don't trust or can't deal with people FTF anymore my heads screwed up because of personal issues which is not nice.
The evidence was only in August this year 2018. That's for ESA not PIP.
Also that old cliché of being over two years is bull, I send stuff going right back and it's used.
Like I say I have everything backed up and send it in again and again.
As you know my PIP this below is ongoing and No further reviews necessary.
They know the DWP and have more than enough of everything in my dealings with them, that I will never improve now or in the future, if I ever have to go through it again I will send it all back to them and more. As I've said I have HCP's come to me 4 times a week.2
