Did you take your sick note to the work capability assessment and explain what your doctor had said?
Good luck, and let us know what the outcome is.

Hi  @robinhood8 a warm welcome to you , i think you will find the sick note from your dr is saying you are sick and can not work,  it is to cover you , yes you still have to have a assessment , even if you got a broken wrist and it is clear  to everyone to see its in plaster , hope this helps  x

You can get a sick note while you're already working so you could be too ill to do your most recent job but might be able to work elsewhere which is what Assessment Provider is trying to find out. They said my friend could not do warehouse jobs any more but "there are jobs available on the Labour market Mr X could consider like office work". It's a shame they don't take into account the toll a complete shift in career could take on someone who has been working in one career their whole life, or retraining, but they would say that's what the job centre is for.

Also a lot of people with long term health conditions or disabilities aren't in contact with their own GP very often as they may have specialists or consultants who provide more specialist care so the GP is only assessing what you tell them when you ask for the note.

    Hi,

A fit note from a GP doesn't prove you have limited capability for work. Most people that claim UC with a fit note will need to attend a work capability assessment. The same for ESA.

Taking a fit note with you to the assessment will not help your claim for LCW because it's not classed as evidence. A decision made by a decision maker will overrule what your GP thinks.

What you need is evidence that proves how your conditions affect you. At the assessment you're assessed for the work you can do and not the work you can't do.

Once you've had the face to face assessment a report is returned to DWP and in that report will be recommendations. It will either be fit for work, LCW or LCWRA and the decision maker usually goes with the report. Ring DWP and ask for a copy of that report, then you'll know what the recommendations are.

The Tories have made so many cuts to many sectors and still want even sick people to go to work.. Unless you're in a coma they want you to work 🤣 this Universal Credit thing is a complete joke..

@shantipants You have commented on a thread that is almost 4 years old. The first step he would need to do is get a fit note and do a change of circumstances on his journal under ‘health’ listing his health conditions and it should ask for the dates on the note. After 4 weeks he will be sent a UC50 form which he needs do fill in and return with relevant medical evidence to support his claim. Continue getting fit notes until a decision is made on his capability for work, this is a lengthy process so be aware of that. Be aware that this does not stop work commitments and it’s the work coaches discretion to either keep, reduce or turn off these altogether. If awarded LCW this comes with no extra money but he won’t be expected to look for work straightaway, if awarded LCWRA all work commitments are turned off and he will no longer need to do anything to prepare for work and can’t get sanctioned and will get £354.28 a month extra on top of his UC entitlement.

Hey there. i found this community because of this 4-year-old thread- that basically partly answers my question in the context of differences in between LCW and LCWRA.
I'm on sick leave since January, newer authorized Job center to share any data with my GP ( I do not trust anybody) jet- I still was not called on any medical health assessment and I have not been granted with either LCW either LCWRA- or, I do not know about it.
In time I get DEA advisor- I nicely ask the guy- on the base of which decision or disability I have DEA advisor - if we did not agree on the level of my disability? Either anyone talks to me about it?

Today I have an appointment work capability Review- my fit note expires next year and my LCWRA was newer assessed. I am so scared of those people, and I can not go by myself- but I still need an explanation why my Limited Capability for work was not assessed, I am left for my self- I was never so unwell in my life and even private psychotherapist reject to help me - I do not need to mention what NHS is doing to me.
Basically- the only push I am getting is Suicide- and I am not suicidal.
Can anyone explain- why I was newer assessed for Limited Capability to work- and why besides Fit Note after 11 months- I need to review my commitments - work search obligations- not jet being provided with health assessment on behalf of my Sick Note that is issued in January?
    What is going on?

    Thank you

It would have been better to start a new thread with your question. Has your work coach referred you for the work capability assessment yet? If they have then you should have received the UC50 form shortly after you were referred.
There are huge backlogs of people waiting for the work capability assessment and some have been waiting almost a year.
