I’m 8 days post op for spinal stenosis and T4 decompression and laminectomy. I was rushed in as I lost all sensation to my bladder and bowels and my left leg was paralysed. Since the op I’m moving around slowly and short distances. I’ve got feeling back in my bowel bladder and some in my leg   My leg is very weak and I need crutches to move around all the time. The pain I had in my lower back right across hip to hip is still with me but not as bad as it was. I don’t know how well this op is going to make me  as there are always risks to every op. I was just wondering if anyone on this site have had the same op and are further down the line regards to healing movement pain etc.
Thanks. Marianna ??

Hello and welcome, having hadspinal decompression surgery in February 2016 after being numb from the waist down since December and continued to work, farming till late January when I had a MRI scan then 5 days later saw the consultant who signed me off work. The operation when fine did the physo attended the back classes at my local hospital but I wasn’t  progressing forward to a return to wok so after 3 more MRI scans and.8 special blood tests I was diagnosed with MS. My surgeon was, is the top man as and only does spinal surgery. So hopefully you will be fine and as long as you do your physo I still do mine now to help my MS the stretching ect. Glad you have got you bladder control back as one of the doctors told me if I had slight problems in this area to blue light it to a certain hospital where the operation will be done as an emergency, luckily I did not make that call and had my operation at my regional hospital by the top man. Wishing you a steady and full recovery and no lingering after affects.
