Do you need to provide evidence for adaptations to a motability car

I've looked on the site (and elsewhere online) but can't seem to figure out if you need to provide evidence for adaptations to a motability car, or if you can only have adaptations that are to help things that are explained in your PIP award (i.e. you have to have scored points in the moving around category)?

I am not a exspert but if you consult with your mobility car supplier I am sure some if not most of the adoptions and modifications to enable you to use drive the car safely and legally can be decussed, arranged and fitted before delivery.

Hi there, haven t long had my blue badge issued to me, as far as I'm aware you do need to have evidence for adaptations to your vehicle and also to have at least 10 points for the moving around component. If unsure, I would advise you to contact PIP and enquire as you Don t want crosswires as there s always stipulations as to what you can do in relation to any adaptations. I wld def ask PIP if you can have any changes  and if you need to take a letter of evidence to mot ability.

    Thanks for the replies
I will have to see if I can get information from car people...

PIP said my condition is "too varied" to give me any points, but it wouldn't be safe for me to drive without hand controls because I have a joint condition that causes a lot of pain and instability, especially in my leg joints, so I wouldn't necessarily always be able to use the pedals, but I wasn't sure if I could get away with a doctor/specialist letter rather than a description in my PIP entitlement
