Need support for managing disability

I have little or no support for helping me manage the last 15+ years of increasing disability originating from rta injuries some years prior. I'm now finding that my disability has had an impact on my mental health, other physical difficulties/pain etc & has been one of the factors in developing Type 2 Diabetes. I need help. I need support. I keep reaching out in the hope of establishing a solid & permanent 'place' or 'space' to enable me to manage & cope with life.
I don't want endless texting or chat so much as sound advice backed up by direction i.e. phone numbers, email addresses, names, organisations & local care & support for my needs. I need to have a life again, not just live as I am 24/7. Here's hoping.

Hello @elleseum   Pleased to meet you welcome.

Thank you for joining and sharing.

I am one of the team of community champions who help and advise new members who join.

Sorry what you are going through.

Please can I add do you need to apply for benefits.

As for benefits you need to contact PIP helpline for that benefit .  0800 121 4433 . ESA helpline 0800 169 0310.

For ESA.  Have a look at our website for further information or speak to CAB.

CAB might be able to help you with anything you require.

    Benefits find out more.  https://www.gov.uk./browse/benefits/

    Benefits calculator https://www.gov.uk./benefit-calculators.

I can give you a organisation for your mental health

    https:// www.richmondfellowship.org.uk.

    I used myself before.

Have you spoken to your local council services they have a range of support services. You need to ring them.

Another suggestion is to contact our helpline on

    0808 800 3333

    Something to consider.

    Hope that helps.

    Please take care.

Thankyou so much @thespiceman. This is exactly what I need, thank you. Since losing my job I have had advice re benefits & understand I am receiving the necessary ones for my level of disability etc. But it's good to be encouraged to check.
One of my main concerns is my mental health. 12yrs of chronic pain is taking its toll & I feel emotionally drained & have feel increasingly hopeless. Thankyou for mentioning 'richmondfellowship'. I'd not heard of them & so will be looking them up.
I also appreciate your response - kindly & extremely positive & direct.
On other sites I'm truly tiring of the "we will pray for you" folk or a million & one "positive affirmations"! Ummmm... I hate to say they just don't actually work. Or help.
    Sincerely - Rae B

@steve51 - Hello there steve51 & thankyou so much for your positive & upbeat message. I'm hoping that as I find my way around the site & make contacts & friends this site, in particular, will be the site I can get answers, get help & start actually living again with a sense of hope.
    Enjoy your weekend -
    Sincerely - Rae B

Hi @elleseum, and a warm welcome to the community!

Glad to see you've had some great advice from our members already. Another thing you may like to consider is a needs assessment with your local authority, to see if there's any additional support they can offer. You can begin that process here.
