Hi I have been getting ESA for nearly 2 years now I suffer depression and anxiety I applied for pip and was refused the assessor visited me at home and I think because I had a clean tidy home which I hardly leave I may add and obsessively clean went against me plus the questions they ask dont relate to mental health issues I was having a good day and answered the questions honestly and feel I've been penalised for this my niece wrote a letter to them to look at my case again and I was still refused. Can anyone suggest what I can do? Thank you

Hi Mollydolly,
I was in exactly the same position as you 12 months ago when my dla changed to a pip claim.
I was refused, I wrote to them asking to look at it again and was still refused.
I went to the carers centre for advice and they said I should appeal. This I did and I was only asked one question by the panel regards my pain level. I was awarded pip at the high rate. I got the payments back dated. It took months to get it to appeal but well worth the time. Don t give up on your claim, appeal against the decision and take as much evidence as possible of how your illness affects you. Good luck x -
Thank you so much I just felt because I look ok I was judged on that. I have worked all my life I lost my job because I was not fit to go back I attend counselling my niece or my friend take me to and from appointments as I can't go out alone it's just a horrible existence x
