Bi Polar/PIP

I was have been thinking about my PIP renewal claim. I suffer from Bi-polar and a few other illnesses all of which I included in my form and how they affect me. I have contradicted myself when describing how my bipolar affects me. During a very depressive episode (which lately seems to be the majority of the time)  I need support to plan a journey and encouragement to leave my house. I also need to be accompanied most of the time. However, when going through a manic phase I am able to leave my house (but need support due to mobility problems). I will stay out all day and all night. Friends and family have tried to get me home but I refuse and can get aggressive so they leave me and I will stay out until the early hours of the morning by myself. I talk to anyone, will go off with anyone, give them money and am a danger to myself. Mood swings are the nature of bipolar and of course it contradicts me saying that I can’t leave the house and then I can and I can stay out when I do! I would be grateful of anyone’s opinions on this please. TIA.

    Hi @sheZZa
Are you getting any support around your bipolar from your doctor or a specialist?

Have you heard of Bipolar UK? They are a charity offering support and information to people living with Bipolar. You can speak to them:

If you would like a Peer Support call from a staff member or volunteer who has been affected by the illness themselves, please leave us a message or email and we will get back to you.
We would talk you through any issues you have on your mind and share their experience to help you find a way forward together. The emphasis will be on self-management; using coping strategies in order to stay well and recover from the illness.
To arrange a call back, leave a message on 0333 323 3880 or email info@bipolaruk.org
Where are you in the PIP renewal process? Have you sent off your forms? Have you heard back from them? Let us know and I hope we can get some more support and information for you.

@ilovecats I do have reports from my gp and psychiatrist. I am currently attending in a bi polar support group. I also have mobility problems which prevent me going out.

@Sam_Score Thank you. I am getting support from my psychiatrist and a bi polar support group, my gp is very supportive too. I’ve been having a really serious depressive episode at the moment.
I sent off my review forms on 7 Jan. I haven’t heard anything yet. I haven’t chased as I can’t cope with the stress at the moment if the award is not what I’m expecting and am unable to fight for a reconsideration at the moment. A lady from DWP came to my house and helped complete the forms.  I haven’t heard of the UK Bi polar group but as soon as I feel well enough I will contact them.
