PIP - Working Full Time

Today I called to make a PIP claim, read posts on the forum and then called the same afternoon to cancel. Is there any point in attempting to claim PIP while working full time? Most posters seem to have been awarded zero points. I have been diagnosed with bipolar, OCD, generalised anxiety disorder and complex migraines.

    Hi @Riotingo and welcome

    Noone on an internet forum can tell you whether you might be awarded PIP. Try taking the PIP self test.
    For PIP to be awarded, your condition must affect your functionality for more than 50% of the time. MH issues are the hardest to prove and you will need input from your GP and any other professional involved with your care

    There is no connection with being employed. PIP is supposed to go towards the extra costs that disablement brings just to "bring you level" with a non-disabled person.
    Yes, the DWP has a default position of "no" which only means that it is the beginning of the fight, not the end.
    Check for yourself against the statutory criteria or "descriptors." If you score enough points then decide if you are up to the fight. It becomes a lot like the Monty Python Parrot Sketch but in the end they just end up giving you the ammunition to beat them with.
    The success rate at court continues to rise.

    It all depends on what actions you have to do in order to fulfil your job role. Is there walking involved, paper work, using a computer, carrying things, working on a till?
    The assessor will be looking very closely to see if there could be any form of contradiction in what you claim is the impact of the disability is and the work that you do.

    As soon as an assessor or the DWP use generalisations rather than analysing your specific situation, they have already crossed the the line and lost any case they might be in.
    The Descriptors are statutory and deviating from them is quite simply corruption. You must be entirely honest in how you compare to them though.
