Thank you everybody. Regarding my PIP renewal I'm just waiting to hear if I've got to for an assessment. Makes it difficult because my illnesses are all hidden. Partially sighted. Several arthritis. Atrial fibrillation and the worst one menieres disease that's something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I think its wrong that we should have to go for an assessment with long term conditions that wont change

There may be a very good reason why you think that they shouldn't but it is what it is.
Briefly it's predecessor, DLA, was a benefit that really had no set time table to reassess. Most people had an 'indefinite' award period relying entirely on the honesty of the claimant to tell the DWP that their issues had improved.
Ridiculous as it might sound, but most claimants managed to get the awards based entirely on what they had put on the claim form. Some were receiving the benefit without being checked for over 20 years.
Unfortunately the likes of the TV programmes such as 'Benefit Street' brought it all to a head with the government having to change the system.
