Hi my mother arrived from Canada early hrs of this morning, after being delayed, even though she was tired & CARL58 was asleep, we had a natter & she went through all his medication, know wonder his pains chronic,there using the cheapest medicines available, also the BigM doesn't really work on the pain CARL58 has,his epilepsy drug is so old there's newer and much better ones they can use.as mum's been dispensing medicines for 22yrs, I've called his GP this morning, she's coming out after morning surgery to review all his medication,I wouldn't have known except for mum, there's something mum said there's to much interaction with his medication making them less affective.why this wasn't spotted before,but takes my mum a senior nurse,all the way from Canada Less than 20mins,to spot the root of the problem.jen

    Good morning all, no good moaning about the drugs that we are prescribed by the GPs, how many of us read the usage leaflet inside the drug packet? And when You see slight side effects happen what do or should we do, firstly call your pharmacy have a word with them who know more about what drug interactions you can get than the GPs and if they are not having the desired effects on your health you have a duty to your self to be proactive in your healthcare and seek advice. Even looking on line but remember the drugs mentioned on line may not be available in the UK or on the NHS. I know while researching treatment for my MS mostly all are USA based and not used or available here or my symptoms are not bad enough to warrant there use. Hope you get the medication sorted out and see an improvement.

    @wilko thank you for your input and sorry to hear about your ms, but I must add CARL58 medication comes in blister packs already made up, so there's no leaflets, also he's on 23 different types of medication every day, looking on line isn't helpful also asking the pharmacist isn't practical because CARL58 has to be there with me,&is pretty much house bound due to complex need's,so we have to trust the GP,,as it's difficult to pin point which medication isn't having the desired affect.but the experience my mother has is very valuable and certain drugs are out dated,a review is essential,this will be the first true review in 7yrs.so you take care but please don't jump to assumptions jen

    @ CARL58, Not at all I have a great pharmacy team who do offer reviews of people’s medications if requested and give the flu jab to save going to GPs surgery. I myself was prescribed medication from the hospital and had side effects and rang pharmacy who told we to stop taking and consult GPs after side effect have stopped this happened four times and the GP informed me I can no longer take this medication as my body can’t tolerate it. So basically I am on my own but after doing a little research have changed my  breakfast diet to include a selection of nuts which I hope will have improved my well being.

    It is great that you have your mother with you, you may get a little relief. And with her experiance maybe get Carls medication to work more effectively

    @CockneyRebel hi taking CARL58  to canada is looking more & more realistic, mum's been on conference calls ,,with different specialist she knows,some are offering free treatment.it sounds like at the moment,the treatment would be more beneficial as there is lack of it here in Britain,mum would have too get lawyers involved and be his sponsor,legal documents that he is in our care,the list goes on it could take 6mths to a year, before this could happen,my father is happy for it to go a head,the easiest part CARL58 has no police convictions or spent anytime in prison,as this would stop it from happening,so when mum gets back to Canada, she'll start the wheels turning,take care jen

    Your mum sounds amazing and you obviously inherited from her. It does sound as though Canada might be Carls best option for a better life, I really do hope so. In the mean time I know you will continue to do your best for him. As always we are here to support you

    @CockneyRebel thank you we we're brought up with Christian beliefs, CARL58 doesn't have a faith,we would never make him,mum knows I love him as a brother we've never had,even though he's older & in 10yrs I've become very attached to him,if I can make his Life better then I've done something good in this world,ok I come from a wealthy background,the pleasure it would give me just to see him smile,to hear him laugh, he's never done those two things in 10yrs, I'm not boasting or bragging I'm me, someone who wants the best for him,a better Life with all the help he needs,not just castaway like he was junk, because that's all this country does to people take care jen
