Swimming lessons

My son and daughter had their first ever proper swimming lesson yesterday at a local community pool. They had a great time mucking around in the water under my supervision for almost two hours. But I’m not sure if I can afford to pay for swimming lessons. Yet another expensive activity for us but it is such a important part of survival. What did you do for swimming? I have been wanting to try swimming lessons for a while now. If you can recommend someone with a good reputation I’ll be indebted to you forever.

Hi @April2018mom I am happy to hear your children had a great time.
I am not sure as it will depend on your area, but there's a poolfinder that can find a swimming pool or club near you. Maybe there will be some that offer free swimming classes for kids (depending on their age).
Hopefully our members can offer some suggestions.

Thank you.

You're welcome @April2018mom

One more question is it a good idea to use a float to teach a non swimmer?

Hi @April2018mom
You might also want to look at Better.org.uk The organisation is a social enterprise run across the UK which offer swimming lessons and swim school

Hope it’s useful

They are 2 1/2 now. Thank you for the links. We are a homeschooling family so I’ve been looking at low cost family activities to do. So far I have signed up to a music class for children and am currently looking at other options.

You may also want to look at the Activity alliance and look for any swimming information on there and with the Amateur swimming association. they should be able to help link you up with teachers and clubs and both should be able to offer some specific disability advice.
