Hi everyone, Edward here from Scope's Stories Team.
Have you volunteered to gain work experience? Did volunteering give you new skills and confidence in your job search? Did volunteering help you find work?
We're looking for someone to write a piece for Scope's website about volunteering to celebrate National Volunteers Week.
National Volunteers Week starts 1st June, so the deadline would be one week today!
Ideally, you'll be comfortable talking about your disability, the challenges you may have faced finding employment, and how a volunteering role has helped you. The focus of the piece would be on the benefits of volunteering and how it can be helpful.
You'll be able to provide a photograph of yourself that can be used in the article, and happy for your image and words to be on the Scope website.
If you're interested, please drop me an email at stories@scope.org.uk and I'll respond as quickly as possible.
Thank you so much!
Edward

I sent a email. How long will the newspaper article be?
-
Hi @April2018mom Thank you so much for your submission. Typically articles on Scope's website are 500-1500 words long. We love your story, but it's a touch too short for our website. But thank you so much for sharing.
We're developing a new guide for writers that will make it much clearer in future - this will include guidance on things like word count, and give tips on how to approach writing a story for the Scope website. Once we have the guide written, we'll make sure you can all access it, and perhaps you'd then like to write a bit more about your experience?
