Can an autism diagnosis be done by a home assessment?

I’m wondering if anyone out there knows where to go to upon seeking a diagnosis for an adult who is house bound and cannot attend an appointment. Are there services out there that provide this kind of diagnostic service at home?

Hi @apples21
A very warm welcome.
Could you explain why they are housebound and do not leave the house?

Hi thanks for your response. He is agoraphobic which makes it difficult to access services. He also has severe aniexty and panic attacks.

Hi @apples21
He needs to speak to his GP, for them to arrange a home visit by the community mental health team.
Has he not been referred to this service before?
Does he have a CPN or named social worker?
If he does not have, then the community team should assess these needs.
Hope this helps.

Hi @apples21 and welcome to the community! I haven't heard of a diagnosis been carried out at home before, yet this does not mean it doesn't occur. This may be something to ring the National Autistic helpline about. Also, here is some information online that I found about the diagnosis process.
Please do let us know how you get on with thisScope -
