PIP claim decision

Hi all. I am looking for advice please. I claim PIP on my daughters behalf. She is in hospital long term. I received a letter yesterday stating they are looking into her claim. They have spoken to a specialist nurse at the hospital and re-evaluated her points for which she scores 13 points for daily living and 12 points for mobility which would tell me that she is eligible for enhanced rate. However, the letter goes on to say that she can’t be awarded PIP at this time. Could this be a mistake in their behalf?
Any advice appreciated

    Hi,

Unfortunately it's not a mistake. If a person is in hospital for more than 28 days and they are over the age of 18 then both parts of PIP can't be paid whilst they are in hospital. See link https://www.carersuk.org/help-and-advice/financial-support/help-with-benefits/personal-independence-payment

and scroll down to going into hospital and it's states this.

    Going into hospital

If you are aged 18+ when you go into hospital then both the daily living and mobility components of PIP are not payable after 28 days in hospital (including payments of the mobility component under an existing Motability contract).

If you are under 18 when you enter hospital, your PIP can continue to be paid for the whole time you are there.

    Hi

How long has your daughter been in hospital ?
After 28 days you are required to notify a change of circumstance. PIP will be suspended until she comes out of hospital
Be all you can be, make  every day count. Namaste

Then you'll need to ring DWP Monday morning and ask why PIP can't be awarded.

That's great @melfoy2, not that they made a mistake but that they'll rectify it! :)
