Work focused interview?

craig23craig23 Member Posts: 25 Connected
Hi I have a work focused interview by phone for universal credit.. I have advanced osteoarthritis and spondylitis.. along with my mental health is not great, I've sent my certificates to universal credit and I now get P. I. P after battling many years with the D. W. P. I can't tell you how anxious and overwhelming this will be, I guess I'm not looking farward to it at all. they know my condition and situation but I've got to do this phone call any help?

Same as you Craig, battled for PIP. Receive UC even though Dr and Specialist say I’m Unfit for Work and I send in the 28 day Fit Note etc etc etc. Being tough on me now and I have to go to a work focussed meeting with my Work Coach. Were you just changed from ESA to UC? I still have an ongoing ESA Court case/Appeal?

Hi @craig23. Unfortunately until you are found to have LCW/LCWRA following a Work Capability Assessment you will be required to have these meetings.

Your work search commitments should take in to account your health and you may need to have an honest discussion with your work coach about your restrictions. Do your commitments currently state what level of work search you have?

Remember that just because you’re having a work focused interview doesn’t mean you’ll be made to look for work right now. They’re usually to discuss your future work plans and look at your work commitments together.
For example; A single parent with a 1 year old isn’t required to look for or take up any work but still has these work focussed meetings. ❤️

Hence the phone interview because I'm always in pain they said about a phone interview... then I have a assessment in a couple of weeks for universal credit. I've just been accepted for P. I. P assessment..

That’s good then, it means they’re making reasonable adjustments for you and have taken your conditions and ability to work into account!! They have to do these meetings anyway but should be easily and relatively straight forward for you as they’re already aware and you’re pending a wca.

No they had to rebook me in for the 4th...but I've got a universal credit assessment tomorrow at 9.00, I passed my P. I. P assessment but I won't pass this, even with my disability and mental health problems.... I think they are just fixed I've failed 4 E. S. A assessments over the last 4years...😞

I always find the work capability assessment more stressful than PIP, it's because the criteria is more specific. They assess you for the work you can do, rather than what they can't do.

Did you send relevant evidence to support your claim? They very rarely contact anyone for this.

    Good luck for tomorrow!

About a week after the assessment give UC a ring to request a copy of the assessment report to be sent to you. This will give you some idea what the decision is likely to be because they mostly go with the report.

If the decision is Limited capability for work (LCWRA) then you'll receive an extra £336 per month.

If the decision is limited capability for work and your claim started after April 2017 then you won't receive any extra money.

If you're found fit for work then your money stays the same and you'll be expected to look for work according to your claimant commitment. You can of course request the Mandatory Reconsideration with 1 month of the date of the decision. If that fails and most do then it's Tribunal after that.

Do let us know the outcome.

I've been down that road before.. mandatory reconsiderations and a tribunal I couldn't attend because I was ill, so they did it on my paperwork.. when I was trying for E. S. A I've been through hell with D. W. P just not got much left in me...

Well it's my universal credit assessment tomorrow.. I know even with my advance Osteoarthritis and spondylitis and depression and mental health, with what I've been through I know it's a fail the system sucks...I know I've been through this so many times now. I'm so low at this point very anxious not sure what to hope for anymore, but thank you to everyone who's gave me advice sometimes too much of a overload at times

I think you can so many things besides work...
There are so many opportunities in this word to get some money, you only have to want it,and everything is going to be ok!
I have a lot of struggles in my life, that's true. But one day i understood that if i would just cry and live by the system,it's gonna end well.
So i started to change something.
I started work as a freelancer and looked for a lot side income.
One day i started betting, and that was pretty nice, cause i know something about sports. But then i found one of the best things in my life [removed by moderator] and that totally changed my life...
Now i can say that i have a lot of freedom and can  do what i want every day.
So tru to find things that will make you happy and try to change your thoughts, thats it.
Don't think about job interview or something like that...

That's great if that has worked for you 👍... but my problems ie my mental health problems are from a young age sadly. I would love to take up photography at some point maybe...
