    Hi,

Great news. Your money will be backdated to the date it was stopped. Backdated money can take 8 weeks.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

If someone looks after you for at least 35 hours per week then they can claim carers allowance providing the other criteria apply.

They'll need to wait for the PIP award to be put into place before claiming. Whether it's backdated or not will depend on their circumstances and what other benefits, if anything they claim but it is possible for it to be backdated.

I never said that. I said it depends on the persons circumstances. What benefits, if any they claim, do then work, if so how many hours. As you haven't given any information then it's impossible to answer your question.

    Hi @ally1402

    A very warm welcome.

Great news that the Tribunal found in your favour.

In respect of back payments and eligibility for other benefits, you should seek face to face advice from a welfare rights officer.

An open forum like this, is not best placed to provide such advice.

In the first instance, try your local CAB.

    Keep us informed.

I disagree. For a simple question like this, a little more information and the correct advice can be given. A lot of people can't get to their local advice centre and rely alot on internet forums for this sort of thing. For more complex questions then yes visiting a local advice centre is always the better option.

@atlas46 The question being asked is about carers allowance and not any other benefits. On this occasion we'll have to agree to disagree on this one, sorry. I gave my opinion and will leave it at.
