It looks like a Crasulla ovata 'hobbit' or could be Crasulla ovata 'gollum' depends if the leaf is folded over to look tubular or are tubular. The 'hobbit' has a nice star like flower. They are more commonly known as jade plant or money plant.

In plant terms succulent usually means they have thick fleshy leaves and or stems that store water.

... folded over to look tubular or are tubular

Should that read, 'folded over to look tubular or are flat'?

There used to be a Chinese takeaway near me that had a massive money plant in the window - its leaves wear flat and oval.

Hi @GettinOlde no. The main difference between 'Hobbit' and 'Goblin' is on 'Hobbit' the leaves are folded over to look tubular where as the 'Goblin' has tubular leaves.

Like many common names they can refer to a range of plants with different leaf structures. Chinese money plants as you say are oval, but belong to a different family of plants. The Chinese money plant originated from the Yunnan region of China, where as the Crasulla ovata originates within a few regions of Africa.

@Geoark Sorry, didn't mean to deceive.
Although it was a Chinese takeaway, it wasn't a Chinese money plant.
    Chinese Money Plant

This was type in the window of the takeaway (Shrek's ear maybe?)

It's odd really, because 'Gollum' leaves look more like 'Shrek's ears' should, or those posting images online are getting confused.

Is this Gollom or Shrek's ears?

I have 2 very strange cacti. Put them in sand and they have shot up with flowers emerging from the 6 inch long shoots. Look quite alien. afraid I cant put photos on yet.

I think people are getting confused, and to add to the confusion, not deliberately, there is a Crasulla ovata 'ogre ears', that one looks more like Gollum. They do look very similar to each other.

    Hi @t0nkys

Your “happy” succulent is drought resistant!

So when you go on holiday and when you return “she” will be even happier!

Hope this makes you err happy!

Memo to self - make appointment for GP, tablets may not be working.

Hooray! Maybe get a happy succulent for yourself if your tablets aren’t working, it’ll give you a smile for a lil bit.

    Hi @t0nkys

Off to garden centre tomorrow to get seven happy succulents (one for each day of week).

I know I shouldn’t, by why is “happy” in your photo standing in a trainer?

The trainer used to have another plant in it, it’s a ceramic trainer so I just put my new plant in lol

Perhaps it was originally planted with runner beans? It's ok, I'll close the door quietly on my way out. ?
