Hello all
Just a quick question.
I received a texted to say PIP has recived my forms back on the 26th July and my old claim runs out and of August.
How long dose it take to hear reply from them, if I need an assessment or send dission out?

@clare_1, the text informs you that they have all the information to make a decision, you can and should have already requested a copy of the assessment report and on receiving it you can workout what you're award may should be but you still have to wait for the official award confirmation letter the decision makers mostly go by the assessment report recomdations.

The text message says " Thanks for sending us your 'how your disability effects you' form. We may need you to attend a consultation with a health professional before we make our decision. We'll contact you again if we do. Please call us if any of the details you gave us have changed.

I did send the PIP forms back first class on the 24th of july and payed for it to be tracked.
So wasn't sure when/if I would hear from them again because my claim i have now don't run out till end of August.

    Thank you for responce ?

    Hi,

That will just be a standard text they send most people. I'm assuming your current award was given by a Tribunal? If so then your award will stop if a decision hasn't been made by the end date.

If you're awarded successfully then your money will be backdated to the date it stopped. It's very likely that a decision may not be made by the time your PIP is due to end, if it stops then this could affect any other benefit you claim.

Your file will now be sent to the health assessment providers and from there they will decide if a face to face assessment is needed. Most have them so expect one of those, it's rare to have a paper based assessment. Waiting times for this vary depending on backlog in your area. Some wait a couple of weeks while other wait months.

Once you've had the face to face assessment a report will be returned to DWP and a decision will be made on your claim. The whole process could take a few months at least. My daughters review took 4 months from the time they received the form.

I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

Thank you Poppy that has cleared my question up.

Yes your right I won the decision at a tribunal. The last two times I have won through tribunal, such a shame that they waste so much money in doing this process. I have sent over 20 pages for medical evidence and a full description/ diary of my day to day and I bet I will have to go through this all again.

I have already had problems when trying to get the forms sent out.
When my mum rang ( beacuse I have trouble speaking) they asked her all the security questions didnt ask to speak to me, they asked my mum to confirm that she agrees for them to contact my doctor if they need more evidence  ect and they wrote down wrong address.
I only found this out beacuse ESA sent a text to call them urgently.
They wanted to when I moved address  to number 4 instead of 6 and then my mum was on the phone for ages to convince them I havent moved. My mum then had to ring back up PIP and ask what's going on. They put a hold on sending my forms out beacuse a change of address but if ESA didnt tell me to contact them, I would never have known ?.

Let the " fun " begain as they say ?

    Thank you once again

    Expect a long wait.

My form was returned in march, I have only just got the the stage where DWP have confirmed receiving my report from the F2F assessment, expected wait time of 6-8 weeks for me at this stage but probably 12 weeks minimal.

I did research these wait times yesterday, and I noticed back in 2016, PIP applications were very quick, some people reporting decisions in a mere week.  The trigger for these long waits seems to be related to the massive 1.6million people been reassessed which I think has put massive burden on the DWP staff involved with PIP.

So I estimate 4-16 week wait for the AP F2F appointment, then after that 2-3 weeks for auditing on the report, then after that 12-20 weeks for a decision.

The whole thing could be more efficient e.g. signing in the report to DWP "before" auditing, and whilst you in the queue for a DM the audit can be carried out.  That would remove 3 weeks of the decision waiting time.

@worried33 not all reports are sent to audit.

    Wow worried33.

I think last time I had to wait over a year for it all to go through beacuse they wanted a report from the judge last time from the tribunal, then got 3 years awarded that's going to run out end of month. I know it gets back dated just frustrating that you have to start a new claim every time when ends and that seems to me whats wasting the money having to go through all the court processes.
I dont have anything to hide and I'm not bothered if they need more evidence from doctor just the last two time they haven't even bothered getting in contact with doctors or specialists.

I haven't got to the f2f assessment yet but it's only been just over 2 weeks since text to say they received forms. I know now that they dont always want a f2f if you have provided enough evidance but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be that lucky.

My fingers are crossed for you that yours gets sorted quickly.

Thank you both for replying ?

Yeah for all I know after I made that post I get a decision next week.  But it does seem in recent times waiting times are above the earlier trends.

If my theory is correct there is delays due to the 1.6million reassessments, that shouldnt affect capita as those are not going to the AP's as far as I know.  So maybe your wait for the f2f like mine shouldnt be too long, capita phoned me 2-3 weeks after DWP told me they had my form.

@poppy123456 I know that, but I feel its best to expect the worst, then you wont be disappointed after expecting the best and it doesnt happen.  From what I understand 100% of reports from new assessors are audited, then after its a random chance of been picked for audit?  But these AP's seem to have a high turnover of staff so perhaps more than expected of assessors are under audit trial.  A fair few people on here, rightsnet and yourable do report having audits done.

    Just an update.

I received a phone call today to see if I could attend a f2f 21st August, if I didnt take this one I would have had to wait untill late September.
I wanted to get it out the way beacuse I'm sure I'll have to go through the Mandatory letter stage and so one.

After that phone call they sent me two texts to say confirmed and the I had 3 missed calls and voice messages from them, waiting me to call them back about Wednesday.
So I got my mum to ringcandvtgey wanted to make sure I was attending and to bring my letter ect. My mum had to explain I didnt have letter because they only rang today to say I have an appointment.

I'm pretty sure at this point that noond communicates to one an other and the left hand don't know what right hand is doing lol.
What with them changing my address when rang for the forms and now ringing 3 times to confirm.

Wonder how long I will have to wait for a discussion after f2f. Was pretty sure I would have had to wait longer for f2f.

Wish me luck as I feel I'm going to need it.

Thank you both for the luck.
I most certainly will let you all know how I get on.
I'm pretty sure it will be a long wait to find out and then have to appeal.
But time will see what will happen

Well I had it and havent long got home.
They rang at 9.30 this morning wanting to change the time to half hour later than planned on Monday and explained that it would take up to an hour and 15 mins she would have preparation time.

Went to the wrong place, they was meant to ring through and never. The lady who done my assessment was a nurse and had me in there over an hour.

When we got there they asked use for the letter had to explain we didnt get one as only had phone call on Monday. The 2 receptionist and the lady assessing me kept telling me to take water in with me beacuse I was out of breath and just calming myself down, it was all yo much for me and i just said i dont want one, but where i cant speak properly it come out shouting.

We got in the room she said she hasn't even read through my application form, but we was 30 mins late and i thought she needed preparation time.
My form i added 4 etara information on each subject and the lady went through the whole form again wanting me to explain everything I had wrote. I said I have already asked all these question on the form I thought this interview was for extra information that I didn cover in the forms.
She said well I havent read them and I have to ask them all again.

So long story short I broke done in tears 3 times and got asked why I'm crying and my mum explained that it's hard to keep going over what you have already put on paper.
We handed repeat medication prescription and then instead of looking she then asking what I take for pain on two separate occasions.

Just got so mad that it takes you over a month to fill the forms In and then they dont even read it and want you to explain it all again when you find it hard communicating in the first place.

Now it's a waiting game for the results but I'm pretty sure it will be 0 points as always.

Hope everyone els has a much better experience than I did.

Thank you for the hood luck

These assessments can be very daunting for most of us. Part of the assessment process is for you to confirm what you've written in the PIP form, as well the HCP asking further questions about your conditions. There will also be observations done through out the assessment too and the HCP will have made notes of those.

Wait a week then ring DWP to request a copy of the assessment report to be sent to you this will give you some idea what the decision is likely to be because they mostly go with the report. You'll still need to wait for the decision to made though. Decisions can take anything between 2-8 weeks sometimes longer.

If you haven't had a decision by the time your PIP award comes to end then your PIP will stop, once the decision is made, if you're successfully awarded it will be backdated to the date it stopped.

    Good luck.

Thank you Poppy for that information.
I understand that still have to ask it just seems pointless to people who can only communicate through paper form and when comes to speaking, you miss things out or get so frustrated you cant speak properly and then you will get judged that you only give short answers. Seams to me like a lose lose situation.
Luckily the lady did keep looking at my mum to answer some of the questions beacuse I was just yo distressed.
I couldn't even tell you what she looked like, that's how badly I dont do well in social situations and I had to tell her to back away from me because I dont like people in my space.
Sounds so silly but you cant help feeling like you do.

Once again thank you for luck and advice.
I will keep all posted when dission is made and what next step I will take.

In pretty sure I wont get the enhanced rate for both like I done last time though. Dont think she was happy that I was late.
But just gose to show I cant understand direction I suppose
