Hi, I`ve been getting Direct Payments to pay for my care package for over 8 years. Each year I`ve been assessed as having to contribute nil. My income and outgoings were used to reach this decision.
I have just received a letter from the charging unit, informing me that they have miscalculated my costings and will re-assess me and I will have payments to make.
They say I can make a list of disability related expenses, which they may deduct from their charges. This is what I have come up with so far;
laundry......washing/drying clothing daily including bedding, towels and kylie sheets...all due to being incontinent
electricity bills to charge wheelchair, recliner, and bed, plus 2 ceiling hoists
gas/electric costs for daily showering including shower gel, sponges,
talc, body moisturisers,
running a car which is not on motability
costs to replace constantly washed things like towels, trousers, bedding
loan for wetroom, replacement of ramped deck for my access in.out of the house
It also asked for mortgage details, which I can supply.
Can anyone offer any other advice please? This is worrying me as to what they want me to pay.
My care costs run high.
Thankyou x

Hello @pollyanna1052.
I recommend talking to CAB about this. They have a useful info sheet on direct payments worth reading too. I have attached the link below. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/wales/family/looking-after-people/direct-payments-w/monitoring-and-reviews-of-direct-payments-w/ -
