PIP just rang me at home?

I had my assessment a week ago Monday and a couple of days later had a call on mobile but couldnt get to phone in time. Anyway, just answered it and it was the same lady that did the assessment. Again, she came over as very nice and said DWP needed some more info? Asked about flare ups and length of time, walking etc, etc, Is this a normal thing to happen, should I be worried and does it mean I am unlikely to be awarded or am I being paranoid. Many thanks.

    Hi,

Sometimes they do ring you after the assessment, if they haven't got enough of information on the day. Are you sure it was the health assessment provider that rang you and note a decision maker from DWP?

It doesn't mean anything other than they needed to ring to ask you a few more questions. Ringing DWP to request a copy of the assessment report will give you some idea what the decision is likely to be because they mostly go with the report. You'll still need to wait for the decision and there's no timescales.

    Hopefully not too much longer.

Thanks Poppy, it was definitely the lady from the assessment centre as she called me by my nae and asked if I was feeling any better than last week. Having an inflammatory flare at the moment. When do you feel I can re ask for the assessment report. I rang Monday and requested it but obviously this will have changed now. thank you again

I didn't realise you'd already asked for it. Do be aware that they will only send you a copy once both assessment reports have been returned to DWP. As the HCP rang you today then the report may not have been returned to DWP yet.

Hi @stratos I would think that as the assessor rang you, as @poppy123456 mentions, it was just to get further information or to clarify what you've said, which can't be a bad thing!

A few days after my PIP assessment, I got a phone call too, from this man who said he checked reports (so I think someone from Independent Assessment Services). He asked me questions relating to my assessment, & showed so much more understanding than the assessor had.

A few days later I got a letter saying I was to attend a PIP assessment. I rang them thinking it was a clerical error, but didn't want them to think I was refusing an assessment. Apparently I needed to have another assessment, probably to go through a couple of things again I was told. No, the 2nd assessor said she knew nothing about that; she needed to go through the whole thing again. Like your assessor she was also very nice.

So, in my case, I feel I was probably very fortunate to get my initial report checked, even 'tho I had to go through the stress of 2 assessments in 3 weeks! When I asked for a copy of my 1st assessment, out of interest, it apparently did not exist!

Seems like people may be asked more, usually by DWP, but also the initial assessment team.

I wish you all the best stratos; won't be too long until you get a copy of your assessment report. Hope you will keep in touch, & let us know your news.

Thank you chiarieds, so sorry you had to go through the ordeal twice and hope you had a good outcome. Having now thought it through rationally, she did say the DWP had requested more information hence her call. she very thoroughly checked and rechecked that she now had all the correct info requested by DWP and said she would resend to them, so praying all will be well. Many thanks again.

It sounds good stratos; checking that all the information is now absolutely correct to send to the DWP.

I was awarded the standard rate for both components. I did go for a Mandatory Reconsideration as I got a standard reply saying as I wasn't under Pain Management & didn't see a  Physiotherapy Specialist, I could walk further than I'd said. The 2nd assessor had noted that I walked 6 metres slowly using elbow crutches & was obviously in pain. The ironic thing is I'm a physio ('tho I haven't worked as such for decades).

My GP had also described my motor difficulties in a supportive letter, & also that pain medication was usually ineffective in those with my problems, He also mentioned I was a physio. So I went with that, & also mentioned that the HCP had mentioned correctly that my pain medication, 'dampened the pain down a bit,' whereas the Decision Maker wrote, 'you state your pain medication is effective.'.....I got the enhanced rate for the mobility component, which was the outcome I thought was correct.

So, I can only reiterate that more information being asked for is something that I would see as a positive. I hope you also get the outcome you wish.

Thank you again chiarieds. this is such a long process and I have felt like I am asking for something I'm not entitled to. I have become paranoid! she asked me about my education and schooling and I explained I had an English and Theatre Management degree before I became an accountant and instantly I thought "Holy mother of god, I bet she thinks I'm acting". My husband was my carer for many years and was also a dairy farmer but sadly he had a life changing accident 2 years ago and was crushed in the rotary parlour. he then went on to develop Sepsis that infected his heart. Our son then came to live with us and now cares full time for both of us. strange little family.....but it works for us now. My husband put in for his PIP and was awarded both enhanced with absolute minimal fuss. will update when I receive the report. thank you again.

I'm dreadfully sorry to read about your husband's accident, but good to read about your son being there for you both.

You made me smile with your thought about acting during your assessment! Looking forward to hearing about your report.
