A SIMPLE PROBLEM THAT BECAME A DRAMA

Hello every one I had this morning a simple problem.  Went in to the kitchen and found a rat under my kitchen unit.

Not only scary but thought who do I ring.

Contacted my housing association first . Not interested. suggested buy a rat trap.

Went on line contacted my County Council rang them up. Do not do 24 pest control only have to book .

This is getting annoying because can see the rat and all it is some one to come and remove it.

So the Council kindly gave me some numbers. To call.

First one rang me back will not do my area. I thought if your in business you go any where.

This getting silly and ridiculous.  I need some one to come out and it is becoming a drama.

Rang an 0800 number got someone to come out after three hours waiting.

He was brilliant did the instant removal.

Cost me £150 .

If you require anything to be done always a drama.

Never understand the way this country is regarding employing people to help you in a crisis.

Is this me or have others had problems.

Like to share and care.

Take care.

    Oh dear @thespiceman :(
Have they just removed the rat or done anything to deal with the problem? How do you think the rat got in because if the hole isn't filled then they could come back.

Not an expert in these matters but I think Enviromental Health Officers might not be too impressed with your landlords not dealing with this. Might be worth a call to them about this.

Hello @Sam_Scope   Thank you for concern as always.  This is something I have to discuss with my Housing Association.

Do not know where it came in to.

What irked me is the first the lack of empathy and concern, care to help a member of the public.

From companies or organisations to help me. Durham County Council gave me some numbers as I have mentioned before.

Who is experiencing an issue with a rat.

The guy came from the other side of the County. From another area around forty minutes away.  To exterminate and assess the problem.

Apparently already dying. This rat I did not want to touch it or deal with it.  You can get infections and disease.  I believe.

He used rubber gloves and a spade.

All I know is the problems I have are massive. As a tenant. Have contacted them numerous times about certain things no reply in many cases.

I am not one to complain have not ever wished to.  Yet sometimes have to.

Understand waiting for a reply for any thing or dealing with the repairs service is serious concern of mine.

One of my experiences waiting six to eight hours for a ten minute repair was not good.

One final point have to contact them any way because my Utility company wants to install a smart meter.

Guy turned up to install and the kitchen units have to be removed.  He could not fit it in.  Literally the half of the kitchen, to fit a smart meter in.  Will have to dismantled.

    Good to talk to you.

    Hope you doing OK .

    Take care.

Hello @Tony246   Thank you for your reply.  Understand did contact my local County Council Pest control.

Is that not part of Environmental Health ?  They do not do 24 hour service.

I am going to speak to my Housing Association send an Email see what happens.

    Take care.

Hi @thespiceman, that certainly isn't how you want to start your morning! I'm sorry about the lack of empathy as well, that cannot have made the whole thing any easier!

Was the kitchen put back together after the metre was fitted?

I hope you are having a better day today @thespiceman. :)

Hello @Chloe_Scope   Thank you my friend. For kind words and support.

I have not had any Smart  meter fitted yet he could not do this and found it difficult to get the old electric meter out.

So the kitchen units going to have to be removed to install one.

Also had a flash light and found at the side of the electric meter is a gap impossible to see. Unless you had a flashlight going to need that filled in.

Will contact housing association, like everything wait and see.

Thank you well seems got a bit of the sniffles this morning  Looks like a cold is looming.

A soup to help the symptoms.  Leek and Potatoes.

    What a week .

How are you doing.? Your morning and everything going OK.
